
Dr. Tom Oakwood is an accomplished metallurgical engineer, who has 40 years of experience in research and development, technical support, and marketing in the steel and related industries. During his career, he has supported the automotive industries in the use of high-strength steels in powertrain and chassis applications. He has also specialized in the development and application of alloy and high-strength steels for the off-highway, industrial machinery and petroleum industries.
Since 1999, Dr. Oakwood has served as Project Manager of the Bar Fatigue Committee, overseeing the testing and data for the Bar Steel Fatigue Database.
Dr. Oakwood received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in metallurgical engineering from Michigan Technological University, and his doctorate in metallurgical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He has authored nearly 40 presentations, publications and patents and is a member of the ASM, AIME and ASTM.
