LIVONIA, Mich., May 19, 2015 – The Steel Market Development Institute’s (SMDI) David Anderson, senior director of the Long Products Program for SMDI, will be recognized as a keynote presenter at the INTERTECH 2015 conference this week. SMDI is a business unit of the American Iron and Steel Institute. The event is hosted at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott May 19 and May 20, 2015. Anderson will be featured May 20 and will discuss “Steel Innovations Help Meet Fuel Economy, Emissions Requirements and Safety Regulations.”

“INTERTECH 2015 is a great example of the international metal industry community joining forces through a common goal of wanting to enhance productivity and advance technologies,” said Anderson. “I feel privileged to be acknowledged as a keynote speaker at this event. It is exciting to showcase how the steel industry can work collaboratively with automakers to meet fuel economy requirements, while maintaining safety and affordability.”

With nearly 200 attendees, INTERTECH 2015 is a biennial international conference committed to discussing technological innovation and application development. There is an emphasis on increased productivity and performance of machined components using industrial diamond, cubic boron nitride, chemical vapor disposition (CVD) diamond, CVD cubic boron nitride, nanodiamond, polycrystalline and related superabrasive materials. It serves as a forum with leaders in research, manufacturing and application development of superabrasives in attendance. This year’s conference focused on the automotive industry because of its leading use of superabrasive materials and manufacturing of difficult to machine and grind materials such as steel, aluminum and bi-metals.

Through the support of the Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI), the Long Products Market Development Group (LPMDG) strives to grow the market for value-added steel bar and rod products. Formed in 1997, the LPMDG’s work is managed by automotive/ heavy equipment and construction / infrastructure members.
